What does working with an Exercise Physiologist look like?
Initial Assessment & Recommendations
All our Exercise Physiology services begin with an Initial Assessment. This enables us to develop an understanding of your health needs, goals, and puts in perspective the demands on your lifestyle. We develop a foundation by gaining initial objective measures on factors like strength, mobility, fitness and balance. This later guides your exercise prescription to be tailored to your individual needs.
Following these assessments, we can also use our expertise to complete recommendation reports, which can assist your entire care team in achieving the best possible health outcomes.
One-on-one Sessions
Next, we start the exercise prescription component of our service. This looks different for all individuals but involves having regular sessions to achieve your health goals. Throughout your Exercise Physiology journey, we continuously alter your program to ensure the exercise is relevant, enjoyable and at an intensity that promotes physiological adaptations.
Regular reviews
As you progress, we undertake an in-depth review in which we reevaluate your needs and goals, as well as changes in your presentation and capacity. We are always ready to adapt to your needs, to ensure we are still on the best pathway for you.
Types of exercise physio services we provide
We offer personalised and convenient services tailored to your needs. Our Exercise Physiology sessions can take place at home, in our Croydon clinic, in local gyms, or in community spaces such as parks, always chosen based on the person’s goals, abilities, and practical needs. This flexible approach allows therapy to build physical skills, confidence, and social participation in real-life environments.
In Clinic Sessions
Our Exercise Physiologists can assist you in working on a range of health goals in our clinic. We have a variety of equipment to help improve strength, mobility, aerobic fitness, functional capacity, balance & mobility. In our space, we can replicate a range of functional tasks which may be unsafe to trial in other environments.
Mobile Sessions
In your home: our Exercise Physiologists can come to your home to deliver quality care in the comfort of your space. Our mobile rehabilitation enables support directly to you across metro Adelaide and rural South Australia. We can use a combination of things you have around the home, with our own specialised equipment that we bring to you.
In community settings: our Exercise Physiologists can meet you in local community gym settings to have ease of access to the best equipment to achieve your outcomes and suit your situation.
Hydrotherapy
We offer hydrotherapy sessions at a selection of community pools, guided by our Exercise Physiologists or Physiotherapists. Hydrotherapy is beneficial to clients that need buoyancy to alter how resistance is applied to undertake exercise and is helpful to individuals with a high falls risk or with impaired ambulation.
Telehealth
If you unable to attend any of the above options, we can undertake telehealth appointments. These are appropriate for individuals with a history in exercising and to provide guidance, for exercise program reviews, or for those limited by distance and resources.
Technology-supported exercise and functional performance
Exercise Physiology programs may use BlazePod and interactive training tools to improve reaction time, coordination, endurance, and functional movement. These systems provide visual and sensory feedback that encourages engagement and consistency during exercise. Technology-supported training can help build strength, improve physical performance, and support safe progression for people recovering from injury, managing chronic conditions, or living with neurological changes.

Frequently asked questions about Exercise Physiology
What is Exercise Physiology?
Exercise Physiology helps people improve strength, movement, endurance, and overall function through personalised exercise programs. It is an evidence-based Allied Health service that supports chronic disease management, rehabilitation after illness or injury, and long-term health improvement.
Programs are tailored to the person’s goals whether that’s increasing mobility, reducing pain, improving balance, managing fatigue, recovering after surgery, or staying active and independent at home and in the community.
What is the difference between Physiotherapy and Exercise Physiology?
Physiotherapists diagnose and treat injuries or acute conditions. Exercise Physiologists provide long-term exercise-based programs to improve function, manage chronic health issues, or support people with disabilities and those ageing.
Do I need a GP referral for Exercise Physiology?
No. You can book directly. However, a GP Care Plan is required to claim Medicare rebates.
Do you offer mobile Exercise Physiology?
Yes. Sessions can be delivered at home, in the community, or via telehealth.
Can I use NDIS funding?
Yes, under Capacity Building or Core Supports. For more information about NDIS access, read more on our NDIS access and pre-planning page.
